More Towels Please! Serena and Murray Take 'Many' Wimbledon Towels Home

Instead of leaving the towels for those who have not won anything, these tennis stars take it as a duty to take home towels to friends, family and assistants.

Serena Williams is believed to be very good at walking off with many towels in her bag, Andy Murray has revealed that his wife, Kim, is a huge fan of those towels, because they can be bought online by fans, while Novak Djokovic admitted he leaves space for towels in his bag - although he is out of the Wimbledon now.

Serena Williams is not just a tennis star, she is also one of the richest sports stars and is said to be worth £120 million, but that hasn't stopped her from yanking scores of Wimbledon towels home - It is reported that she takes up to eight towels per match.

Wimbledon's court attending manager, George Spring said:

Serena is a legend as far as towels go and she would have to buy a second house.

Andy Murray said:

My wife always asks for one at all of the tournaments I go to. Got one for her in the first round. Gave one to my physio. I normally take one each day and give it to someone on my team.

Mr Spring added that the club had taken special measures to stop towels disappearing at junior matches. 

The juniors for many years I believe were having a competition to see how many they can get. But our policy now is that if they do ask for another towel we will give them a white towel and they soon don’t ask for another when that happens.

We are trying to break in the next generation of towel connoisseurs.

While Djokovic said:

I try to sneak in an extra towel here and there during the match, using the excuse that it’s too warm and I’m sweating. Actually I just put an extra towel in the bag.

I’m sure the All England Club Committee will forgive me for that extra towel per match.

The 29-year-old sees them as a souvenir but also finds them comforting.

He added: 

For a second or two, I’m able to lose myself in a towel if I need some concentration. The size of the towel is perfect for that. Just cover your head.

They sure have different reasons for their 'play-and-carry' towels competition... of course, would they say they don't have towels at home?
