Nigerians Are Drinking More Beer, WTF?!

I just saw this report in Cable.NG that Nigerians are drinking more beer, even in this recessionary period and the thought that came to my mind is that majority of us aren't obeying our pastors and imams or how else can one describe the very many pentecostal Christians who daily pretend to serve God and the huge number of Muslims praying, or pretending to be praying, 5 times a day? What of the very many cars that throng KM 46 Lagos/Ibadan Expressway every first Friday and the muslim counterparts who choose to do theirs not far from the Deeper Life Camp? Isn't there "Fire on the Mountain" already when we seem so religious yet short time hotels are the fastest growing business in the land? Or could it be that the argument that abundance brings happiness and celebration which leads to drinking and depression calls for beer to simulate a feeling abundance and happiness is true? Does it mean that head or tail the beer dudes will always win? If we don't believe that beer drinking is a sin, why do we all pretend like all the millions of hectoliters being produced are been fed to fishes, keeping our "Star" gazing faces straight when Pastors preach against it on Sundays and when Imams call it haram?

These thoughts are very depressing this early Monday morning. I need to get over it, bar man, please bring one bottle of something Orijinal and let's sing: More beer, more beer, more beer, more beer....
