Enyimba Qualifies for CAF CL Group Stage in Style

Despite every attempt made by Etoile du Sahel to frustrate the reigning Nigeria League champions, Enyimba FC, the Aba warriors eventually qualified for the money spinning group stage of the CAF Champions League. This came even as the Tunisian side, Etoile du Sahel, defeated Enyimba by 3 unreplied goals.

This is the first time in 5 years that Enyimba will make it to the group stages.

Enyimba's weakness in set pieces however came to the fore again as the Tunisians scored two of their three goals from free kicks. The 3 goal advantage which Enyimba carried in from Port Harcourt having been cancelled therefore, the winner had to be decided via penalty kicks which the Nigerian champions won. Enyimba's goal-keeper, Theophilus Afelioai, is the hero of the night saving 3 of the Tunisian's kicks.
