Politician Resigns Because He Won't Shake A Woman

It's truly different strokes for different folks. While a lot of our own politician won't agree to leave office even when caught doing things that are clearly illegal, some other ones in some other climes will rather resign, based strictly on moral grounds.

it's been reported that a Swedish Green Party politician has chosen to resign after a row involving him and a female reporter he refused to shake because of his religious belief that members of the opposite sex shouldn't shake each other. The politician, Yasri Khan, will rather place his hand on his chest as a gesture of greeting instead of a handshake. His resignation came after strong criticism that followed the Tuesday incidence.

Khan said "People can greet each other in different ways. The most important thing is to show respect by seeing each other, to meet each other., to respect each other."

A Green Party parliamentarian, Stina Bergstrom, however feels different about the whole issue quoted as saying "It is unacceptable. You can't have a man in the party who can't greet women in the same way you greet a man. I'm upset."

Another Green Party muslim member had resigned from governemt after likening Palestinian conditions to the treatment of Jews by Nazi Germany.
