Social Media Day was launched in 2010 by the popular website, Mashable.

Social media is unarguably a primary source of information, both personal and societal. We constantly learn of trending topics on Twitter and Facebook, trailing social media failures, which makes many people careful what they post.

So many are obsessive with their social media, that they don't care what goes there as long as people see it.

There are so many now, that even if you're keen on using Twitter or Facebook, there's Blogger, Snapchat, Linkedin, Instagram, Google plus and a host of others. 

Businesses have now recognised the indispensability of social media for connecting with their local customers and the world in general, to sell their product and services. 

The social media is no doubt indispensable as many of us use the social media to keep up with friends, no matter where they are. 

It has been used for various purposes, ranging from organising events, gathering people for a protest, selling products, promoting a product or a service and so on.

The social media is actually what you make of it.
