Weird! Find Out How This Man Fathered His Own Nephew
A 34-year-old man, from Washington, underwent a series of genetic tests after discovering that his son's blood type was AB while he and his wife were both type A, which is not genetically possible. Naturally, finding out that something impossible happened set off the alarm. The man took a paternity test, which he failed. He and his wife thought the clinic had used the wrong sample, but the clinic confirmed the right sample had been used. So they did another paternity test, which he again failed. The couple sought out Stanford geneticist Dr. Barry Starr who put the man through the previously mentioned barrage of genetic tests, which determined that the man had absorbed the DNA of his unborn twin brother in the womb. So the baby carried the DNA from the twin, making it technically the father.
Carrying two sets of DNA isn't unheard of , it's called "chimerism." However, in a twist that you might just see in a "ripped-from-the-headlines" TV cop show, the DNA in the man's saliva differed from the DNA in his sperm. That's how he was able to father his own nephew.
