The Next 'Iron Man' Is Going To Be A Young Black Woman

Seems Marvel want to answer to the call for gender and race equality as they are coming up with a young black woman, who is going to play the role of Iron Man.

We can however just say the world of the Marvel community just got more diverse.

Marvel writer, Brian Michael Bendis, reveals this at the end of the comic book series Civil War II, where Stark steps out of his Iron Man suit and Riri Williams, a young black female science guru, who catches Stark's attention when she builds her own suit, takes over from him.

Bendis tells Time:

I thought that was the most modern version of a superhero or superheroine story I had ever heard.

Some of the comments online, I don’t think people even realize how racist they sound. I’m not saying if you criticize you’re a racist, but if someone writes, “Why do we need Riri Williams we already have Miles?” that’s a weird thing to say. 

They’re individuals just like Captain America and Cyclops are individuals. All I can do is state my case for the character, and maybe they’ll realize over time that that’s not the most progressive thinking.

Riri Williams would now be part of a diverse range of Marvel characters. Thanks to non-racial disposition of the superhero creators.
