Lewis Hamilton Wins Australian Grand Prix In Style

Reigning Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton won a tension soaked Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, July 3, after a last-lap collision with Nico Rosberg as both Mercedes teammates slugged it out.
Championship leader Rosberg, who had been in front with Hamilton right behind, nursed his damaged car over the line for fourth place with his overall advantage cut to 11 points after nine of 21 rounds.
Dutch teenager Max Verstappen, who became the youngest race winner at the Spanish GP, finished second for Red Bull with Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen coming in third as teammate and four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel crashed out on his 29th birthday.
Hamilton, who started on pole after a difficult qualifying session, made his move on Rosberg at turn two, with the pair colliding and Rosberg’s front wing breaking in the impact.
“I was on the outside, it wasn’t me that had the crash,” the triple F1 champion said.
Hamilton’s victory – his third of the season and 46th overall – was the 250th in Formula One by a British driver since the elite circuit began in 1950.
