On the night of 14–15 April 2014, 276 female students were kidnapped from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria. The Islamic extremist group, Boko Haram, claimed responsibility for the kidnap and during the first few months of the kidnap, 57 girls escaped and parents never stopped praying for the 219 others to return in one piece. In may of 2016, one of the girls was found and she claimed that other girls were still in the ugly claws of the captives but that six had died already. Later that week one other girl was found but the parents and Nigerians at large have already lost hope in finding the girls even though the Nigerian Army have been putting in so much energy and dedication towards finding the girls and stopping the terror that hasn't sized it's constant re-occurrence in the North.
The #BringBackOurGirls campaign that has been followed, liked and retweeted over two million times by people from almost every country in the world since it's start in 2014 with the objective of raising awareness about the kidnap and establishing the fact that the nation must act fast, was created by Mitchelle Obama and is headed by Mrs Oby Ezekwesili in Nigeria. The #BringBackOurGirls campaign, hasn't stopped pressing the government for results and giving hope to parents of the other missing girls.
Its now 800 days since they were taken and Nigerians still have unanswered questions. When will those girls return, how will they return, will they ever even return?
