7-Year-Old Boy Left In Forest As Punishment

Yamato Tanooka, is a 7-year-old Japanese boy whose parents left him at the bear-inhabited woods in northern Japan as punishment for misbehaving.The boy’s parents said they had left him briefly as a punishment only to return and find that he was missing.

Hundreds of rescue workers combed the mountainside and surrounding forest for days looking for the lost boy. After nearly a week with no luck, the rescue team had almost given up hope of finding him.
According the Japanese Times, the parents had initially told the police that "he got lost while the family was walking in the area, picking wild vegetables", but later stated that "they were angry after he threw stones at cars and people and they only wanted to teach him a lesson."

The boy was missing for six days with no food or water. He was reported to have showed up in a military training facility roughly 2.5 miles north of where he had gone missing, fortunately he showed up unharmed.
