Power Supply Crashes Further Down To 2,500 Megawatts
The attacks by militants that was launched on Chevron's oil and gas facilities in Delta State has led to another drop in power generation from about 3,600 megawatts to 2,500 megawatts.
Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Power, Works and Housing announced that power generation had dropped due to the attacks on the Chevron facilities.
Fashola further said that power generation averaged 3,600MW before the Wednesday and Thursday attacks.
He bemoaned attacks on oil facilities, and blamed the drop from 5,000MW to 3,600MW on the attack on Forcados terminal pipeline last February. But however said that repairs will be concluded next month.
The attacks have also pushed Nigeria’s crude oil production to the lowest in 20 years, as Chevron also shut down about 90,000 barrels a day of output following the impact on a joint-venture offshore platform that serves as a gathering point for production from several fields.
