Must-See Movies Of May 2016

Must-See Hollywood Movies Of May 2016

Hollywood as usual hits Amazon, Netflix and iTunes this month with movies that would drop your jaws.

Already some movies have been released in the past months and have made movie lovers lick their mouths for movies that would be released later.

Vibes. ng presents the movies for this month:

On Netflix:

Goosebumps (May 11)

The film, based on the series of kids’ books by R.L. Stine, is directed by Rob Letterman and produced by Neal H. Moritz through his Original Film banner. Deborah Forte of Scholastic Entertainment, which published the books, is also producing.

We Are Still Here (May 15)

We Are Still Here is a 2015 American horror film written and directed by Ted Geoghegan. The film had its world premiere on 15 March 2015 at South by Southwest and stars Andrew Sensenig and Barbara Crampton as grieving parents who find themselves the focus of an attack by vengeful spirits.

The 2016 version shows a family still grieving over the death of their son and end up unearthing terrible, unholy secrets about their new home (in rural 1979 New England) in this solid supernatural indie from writer/director Ted Geoghegan.

The Do-Over (May 27)

The Do-Over is an upcoming American action comedy film directed by Steven Brill, and written by Kevin Barnett and Chris Pappas. It stars Adam Sandler, Paula Patton and David Spade. The film is the second in a four-film deal between Sandler and Netflix.

On Amazon Instant Video:

99 Homes (May 9)

Largely ignored during its release last fall, this compelling drama concerns a construction worker (Andrew Garfield) who, after being forced out of his house by a shady real-estate agent (Michael Shannon), soon comes to assist that man in carrying out further evictions.

Creative Control (May 12)

Technology proves a means of indulging in illicit (and morally questionable) affairs in this clever sci-fi indie, available exclusively on Amazon.

On ITunes:

Triple 9 (May 10)

Scuzzy criminals find themselves in dire straits after trying to pull off a heist via a "Triple 9" ruse–the code for an officer-down report–in this bleak all-star action-drama starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Norman Reedus, Anthony Mackie, Aaron Paul and Kate Winslet.

Gods of Egypt (May 17)

Forget the horrible reviews. This Alex Proyas historical-sci-fi fantasy set in ancient Egypt (and starring Gerard Butler, Chadwick Boseman, Geoffrey Rush, and Game of Thrones' Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is so entertainingly bonkers, it has to be seen to be believed.

Embrace of the Serpent (May 17)

An Amazonian shaman embarks on two separate journeys alongside a Western scientist–one at the turn of the century, one in 1940–in this haunting, hallucinatory ethnographic head-trip.

A War (May 24)

A military commander is accused of committing a war crime while trying to protect innocent civilians from Taliban forces in Afghanistan in this Academy Award-nominated import from A Hijacking's Tobias Lindholm.

The Finest Hours (May 24)

Chris Pine is a Coast Guard member striving to rescue stranded men (including Casey Affleck) during a historic storm in this stirring based-on-real-events drama.

Hail, Caesar! (May 24)

The Coen Brothers assemble an illustrious cast–including George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonah Hill–for this 1950s Hollywood satire about a marquee movie star who goes mysteriously missing.

10 Cloverfield Lane (May 31)

Mary Elizabeth Winstead wakes up to discover that she's in an underground bunker which, according to its owner (John Goodman), is the last refuge from some global catastrophe in this pseudo-sequel to the J.J. Abrams-produced 2008 hit.

The Brothers Grimsby (May 31)

Sacha Baron Cohen is a moronic football hooligan who teams up with his long-lost super-spy brother (Mark Strong) on a save-the-world mission in this supremely profane (and amusing) action-comedy.

London Has Fallen (May 31)

Terrorists once again try to take the American President hostage, and Gerard Butler's superheroic secret service agent once again comes to the rescue, in this ultra-violent sequel to 2013's Olympus Has Fallen.

Midnight Special (May 31)

Channeling both John Carpenter and Steven Spielberg, this sci-fi road trip saga involves a father (Michael Shannon) and his paranormally powered son (Jaeden Lieberher) fleeing both their former cult community as well as federal forces aided by Adam Driver's agent.
