Federal Government Must Investigate Proof Of Life Video Of The Chibok Girls!

The leader of the Bring Back Our Girls group, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, has called on the federal government to investigate the ‘Proof of life’ video of the abducted Chibok girls which was released by the Boko Haram sect.

Ezekwesili who showed concern over nothing been heard from the government since the release, said that the group will take it up to know exactly what the government has done with the video.

“The ‘proof of life’ video for us is important. We say we will observe the action of government about the video for one week and see how it has been utilised. We should discuss on how we can take it up. How we can hold the government to task”.

“Have government exhausted the video as a possible lead? We can’t let it vanish. We are going to make an issue. We can’t let it go. We must ask government to account for it. Government should respond to it. They should account for the action they have taken as the video has gone out in public domain,” she stated.

 

The group had earlier stated that it was not in accordance with the way the federal government had handled the ‘Proof of life’ video which was showed some of the abducted Chibok girls being released by the Boko Hara sect.

During the daily sit-out of the group, the leader of the group, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, stated that the government was supposed to use the video as a lead to getting further intelligence to help in the rescue of the girls by doing their best to study it through forensic investigation.

“When you have that type of lead, you don’t accept it in its entirety. What the government would say is that they would put all their best effort at studying it with forensic investigation. There is a lot that technology can do, to get the source of the video, what is the authenticity, the timing and where it originated from?

“There are many things to ask. It will be a path way to getting further intelligence. We are not impressed with the way the federal government has reacted so far with the video,” she further said.

Ezekwesili also added that parents of the abducted girls had gathered their hopes once again because of the video, and prayed that the government through the video will have a clue on the whereabouts of the girls.

“We are observing for the next one week how the federal government reacts to it and what it does with it as part of the lead. I believe that when some parents of the Chibok girls have stated that the video have given them some renewal of hope. It will do well for the federal government to figure a way to respond to the proof of life video in a more coherent, substantial, evident driven manner and a way that is professional. We hope that that is what will happen,” she finally said.
