Could Governor Fayose Be Related To Vic O?

Well… when this title was shared, many people said: ‘they are incomparable. One is a politician, the other a musician’.

But let’s look at it from this perspective…

Fayose (self-acclaimed voice of the masses, also called stomach- infrastructure governor) is the governor of Ekiti state, and came into power after less than ten years of his impeachment in 2006, amidst rancour.

Nigerians both within and in diaspora talked and talked and condemned but it all fell to deaf ears.

…Just like Nigeria…

Vic O (self-acclaimed best rapper) is a Nigerian ‘occurrence’ who came into limelight in 2012 when he dropped a single, Why Evils, based off a Don Jazzy beat. The single met with scepticism on the Nigerians social media scene, but was promoted for a while and one would ask, ‘Why now?’

Now, we know both have enjoyed ‘unwarranted’ publicity from all corners, but what methods have they been employing? Let’s examine some of them below, so as to see what makes them siblings.

They do under-normal things to get into the news, social media trends; in fact, the Nigerian talk-scene as a whole. They get people talking through their controversial comments.

NB: Controversial is a lighter version of the intended word.

For instance, Fayose will always point fingers at President Buhari, saying all sorts of things against him, and one wonders if he has the time to lead his state at all. Not forgetting that his people have kept regretting why they voted him or why they allowed the election to be rigged.

Vic O on the other hand would pass comments that draw attention to himself. The question one asks about him is: Are you alright at all? He was once asked in an interview why he was throwing off the best rappers in the world: Meek Mill and Drake, and he said he recognises them but he is better. He has also mentioned he is bringing home Grammy awards soon.

Both of them seem confused people who only want to be known for negative reasons, and that’s what Nigerians should establish. But, nothing is more amazing than how the both of them set Nigeria on fire – But do we think all is well that these two people are enjoying air space?

In saner climates, the both of them would have been asked to see a therapist (a psychologist), or at least ascertain what their aim is. But, the believe here is that both make up what they give the world to enjoy media attention.

Even if we assume both of them understand what they are doing, though quite doubtful, we assume that they know that they are not in the business at all.

Let’s recall these aforementioned scenarios:

Fayose plays god for the Nigerian populace when his own people want him out of office, Vic O claims to be a singer (Or whatever he wants to call himself) when village songs are far better than his releases.

The main issue here is that, it is quite disheartening how these brothers (Fayose and Vic O) get to enjoy our time and media attention while numerous other issues are thrown out. Issues bothering on their professions.

How things will end with Fayose and his brother Vic O, no one knows, but it is high time they are sat and advised on positive ways of getting attention. In other ways, they seriously need to wash their dirty clothing inside their houses and come out smelling nice.
