Drone Hits British Airways Plane
A British Airways flight coming from Geneva was on Sunday hit by a drone which strayed into its flight path. The plane has 132 passengers and five crew on board.
The Metropolitan Police's aviation security unit based at Heathrow is already investing how this could have happened. While the aircraft landed safely and was examined and cleared to embark on its next flight, there are fears of what could be possible with such incidence. The major what if is that of the drone carrying a small explosive device. What if the machine had been affixed with a small improvised explosive device strong enough to punch a hole on it or take out part of the undercarriage?
The British Civil Aviation Authority it was "totally unacceptable" to fly drones - which are generally used to capture aerial film or photographs - close to airports.
