Why would a boy organise the kidnap of his uncle for ransom? There's only one answer, greed. That's the story of what led to the kidnap of United Kingdom based 92 years old Chief Edwin Chime, at Obinagu Town in Udi area of Enugu State. On that faithful day, Chief Obinagu was whisked away in an Audi car and a call made to his wife for a 200m naira ransom a day after. The hungry characters involved eventually reduced the ransom demand to N500, 000 which was promptly paid, leading to the chief's eventual release.
The criminals involved in this heinous act however did not consider the power of technology as they were tracked down using the phone number they used in making the ransom demand and were eventually arrested. the shocking part of the story is that Chief Chime's nephew, Collins Chime, was allegedly the mastermind behind his kidnap. Other suspects are Chinonso Onyebuchi, and Chukwudi Azemenei.
When asked the reason for getting involved in kidnapping his uncle, Collins claimed the uncle refused to help him start a business and therefore decided to extract the money from him by force. Expressing remorse, he asked for his uncle's forgiveness, which we are sure if given will still not stop the police from prosecuting the criminals.
